Mieke van der Heyde

Mieke is a PhD student of the Department of Environment and Agriculture at Curtin University. She is currently studying methods to monitor biodiversity using metabarcoding, a genetics based technique based on high throughput sequencing technology. Mieke’s research interests include ecology, genetics, and soil biology.
Mieke completed a Master’s of Science at the University of British Columbia Okanagan, where she studied soil fungi and their responses to disturbance. Her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology is from McGill University.
