I am a restoration ecologist and botanist with a passion for the flora and vegetation of Western Australia. I completed a BSc in Environmental Science from Murdoch University and a Graduate Diploma in Education from Curtin University. After time as both a science teacher and a botanical consultant, both in Perth and abroad, in 2018 I completed a PhD at The University of Western Australia. I investigated the long-term patterns and drivers of the recovery of kwongan shrublands restored after mining at two sites in southwest Western Australia, using species-structural, plant functional type, and abundance weighted mean trait approaches. In July 2019 I began as a post-doctoral research fellow with the Centre for Mine Site Restoration. I work on several projects covering various aspects of restoration including identifying long-term patterns and drivers of Banksia woodland recovery, investigating relationships between ground- and drone-based measures of vegetation cover, and identifying ecophysiological and spectral proxies for rooting system access to water.
